Professional accountability is about protecting the public by ensuring that professionals practice in a sound and ethical manner and are held accountable for any deficiencies in their activities.
As CPAs, one way we are held accountable is through a practice inspection at least once every three years by CPA Manitoba (our local governing body). This ensures we are compliant with professional standards by assessing our quality controls and reviewing a random sampling of our engagement files. We are then provided feedback for improvement, and if there are any deficiencies, they are addressed.
